Pathways for Children & Youth

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

The regional ABA program is clinically supervised, and typically runs from two to six months. It is aimed at children aged 2 to 18, who have a diagnosis of ASD or PDD/NOS, and who are speaking in two-to three-word phrases at a minimum.

The ABA program focuses on four core areas; behavioural/emotional regulation, social skills, communication skills, and activities of daily living such as self-help skills. The program is primarily delivered in small group settings, with two to four hours of service per week. Children are grouped based on age and priority goal areas, and one-to-one interventions are provided where necessary as determined through an individualized service plan.
